Interior Styling

Where it all began

The Nook was established in 2018 by Lou Vigars, a couple of doors down from where it is now. After working as a schoolteacher for 10 years, she left to have her two children and never returned! Evening classes in upholstery and furniture painting reignited her passion for interiors and repurposing and the family’s subsequent move to Frampton Cotterell in 2013 provided the perfect opportunity to put her skills to good use!

At home with young children and a limited budget Lou set about
transforming their 18th century cottage using vintage, found, repurposed and handmade pieces. In 2016 the house was featured in the Channel 4 show Fill your House for Free hosted by Gok Wan – a series designed to inspire people to transform their homes using free and found materials.

After a year of study Lou completed her qualification as an Interior Designer in 2017, opening the original Nook Interiors shortly afterwards. When the opportunity arose to relocate to a bigger space 3 years ago with friend and talented florist Deb England from Courtyard Flowers they snapped it up, becoming known as Nook & Cranny! In 2022 they were joined by brilliant seamstress Tash Bisp of Sew Happy and have been enjoying creative adventures together ever since!

Located in the lovely village of Frampton Cotterell and surrounded by beautiful countryside it should be no surprise that our style is heavily influenced by nature and the seasons.

We are committed to using products and materials that are sustainable and ethically sourced and we also support the work of several local makers.

As well as selling a handpicked selection of beautiful products we also offer bespoke commissions, styling advice and popular creative workshops in our inspirational Craft Room.

Thank you for an amazing afternoon - it was great to learn to do something new - and a lovely lampshade to take away! Lovely facilities, great tea and cake and such friendly teaching. Thanks again - I'm sure we'll be back for more!

I’ve been looking for some pictures to go above our fireplace but had been struggling. I found a picture whilst in Nook & Cranny just before lockdown. I was told that I could commission others (I needed 3 in total). I asked Lou is she could make me two more with a specific family theme, which I’m pleased to say Lou agreed. I’m over the moon with the result as they’re amazing. I also ordered one for a 21st birthday gift.
